Jeffrey Epstein

edit

Is Jeffrey Epstein's relationship with Brin notable enough for inclusion?

According to a court filing, Epstein advised Brin from 2004 to 2007, including guidance on how to set up a tax shelter — a tax-saving trust for Brin’s kids called a grantor-retained annuity trust, or GRAT — with bankers at JPMorgan Chase. Brin had become a client of the bank in 2004 following a referral from Epstein and subsequently held more than $4 billion in accounts there. The Wall Street Journal notes that Epstein helped billionaire and Apollo Global Management co-founder Leon Black set up a similar tax shelter. Epstein’s relationship with Brin came to light in an August 2023 court filing by the U.S. Virgin Islands in its civil suit against JPMorgan over the bank’s relationship with Epstein.

Lots more RS's than just this by the way ... good luck finding them on Google though ha ha. DarrellWinkler (talk) 20:30, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pronounce "Brin"?

edit

It's absurd that this article doesn't say how "Brin" is pronounced. To assume that everybody already knows is unjustifiably presumptuous.

I can think of at least two different ways to pronounce it in English (rhyming with "grin" or rhyming with "green"), which for this English encyclopedia is more important than how it is pronounced in Russian.

The vast majority of readers here will never need to say his name in Russian but will definitely need to say it in English if they ever talk about him. Giving the pronunciation in English IPA would be best, respelling second best, but even "rhymes with 'grin'", etc, would be better than the nothing it gives now.

Someone made this request in an earlier, archived section, but it was effectively ignored. PLEASE don't sweep it under the rug again. How to pronounce an important person's name is not a trivial concern. —38.49.72.17 (talk) 01:36, 19 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
