"Technically adept and aggressive as hell, a straight-to-your-face burst of northern hatred would probably be the best way to describe it."

not really npov, is it?--Niethan 10:23, 29 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

You can edit out such bits. If it said, for example, "A technical style leaning towards aggression, with a straightforward approach would better describe it", it would be NPOV, but as it is, it's just fanboy POV. --Sn0wflake 13:26, 29 July 2005 (UTC)Reply
Have we really seen the last of Sentenced? The Funeral Album is their current album. I've heard all about no reunions and no more albums and yet I don't think so. Sentenced will be back with another album. We haven't heard the last of Sentenced.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.29.149.88 (talkcontribs) 06:34, 18 August 2006 (UTC).Reply
I'm pretty sure we HAVE seen the last of Sentenced, because bands don't usually reunite. They might in like, 5 or 10 years, but other than that, I'm pretty sure they're gone.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.104.112.174 (talkcontribs) 13:18, 17 January 2007 (UTC).Reply

Genre

edit

How come Sentenced is described as power metal? I have nothing against that genre, but Sentenced definitely isn't power metal. For example, they don't have singer who sings 'high and loud'. Therefore, i'm looking forward to delete power metal from their genre box. Even the source which states it seems to be unreliable. Go and listen Sentenced by yourself, if you still consider Sentenced as power metal. Tohvelielain 15:50, 26 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

If Sentenced is power metal then I am a scientist. Melancholic Death Metal or Gothic Metal would strike much closer to home.

Calling Sentenced Power metal is like calling Eminem Trip Hop. Its a wide-lain-strech at best. It also fulfills no requirements of power metal and has NEVER BEEN CITED AS SUCH. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.41.156.63 (talk) 08:45, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah all the stuff I've heard from sentenced thus far is definately not Power metal. Also, I don't think they qualify as a gothic metal band either (they never had a female singer or dual vocalists) and the source for that is definately not reliable, so I'm removing that genre. If someone is going to put gothic metal up again they better provide a better source than www.metal-archives.com.--Leon Sword 00:20, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Your comments sound asinine, since you reduce power metal to "vocalist who sings high and loud" and gothic metal to "female singer or dual vocalists" (!!!???!?). However, if their music is a mix of multiple genres, they CANNOT be 100% insertable in one of those genres, right? Your opinion of "reliability" of a source is too much arbitrary and makes me laugh, so: remove ALL links to MetalArchives and AllMusic in Wikipedia (and they are thousands and thousands!). i don't get how a high singer is power metal and how a female/dual vocals are gothic metal. but i actually came here to question why Sentenced is Death metal. metalhead 18:57, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
No, it's not death metal per se. Sentenced IMO used to be pure doom/death metal. And now it's pure doom/power metal. Considred to as Emo 18:08 20.September.2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.114.156.250 (talk)

The only death album of Sentenced is the first one. Then they totally change genre, a particular mix of doom/goth and power (not like "classic power"), with a looooot of melody. Totally different from their past. 87.16.182.50 (talk) 12:31, 27 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, man but Sentenced has hardly anything to do with most of those genres which you mentioned at all. And elements of death metal was still able to hear in North From here, which has been often credited as one of the first album in melodeath genre. And later is melancholic heavy metal, heavy rock, heavy folk rock, progressive metal (althought Amok being considered to be melodic death metal wich it would also be im not sure) or something but it is not doom, goth or power metal. Not even close to any. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Talvimiekka (talkcontribs) 17:29, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well if the only thing there seems to be agreement on is that early Sentence was melodic death metal, then why does the infobox say that their later work was melodeath? I changed it and my edit was reverted. I can understand how some of my edit can be seen as debateable, but I think it's pretty obvious what genre their early work is.Soltake (talk) 20:47, 5 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have two issues with the following: 'Sentenced was a heavy metal band formed in 1989, in the town of Oulu, Finland. They disbanded in 2005.' First, aren't they actually from Muhos? Muhos is near to Oulu, yes, but not in Oulu by any means. Second, Oulu isn't really a town. The metro area has over 175 000 inhabitants and is one of the biggest in Finland. Sounds like a city to me. He's Right, on the Buried Alive DVD they talk about being from Muhos, and how there was no metal scene there, so im going to go ahead and change that to Muhos L Trezise (talk) 00:50, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
