Talk:Sensible heat

Latest comment: 13 years ago by Vaughan Pratt in topic How rough?

The first sentence of the definition of Sensible Heat is not grammatical. It is not clear what the original writer meant to say.

Problems edit

Wow, lots of problems--lack of units for equations, references to "the body" that aren't explained, rambling style...No time to fix now.Ccrrccrr (talk) 04:03, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

How rough? edit

Is it reasonable to say "to a very rough approximation each transports about half of the heat"? According to Figure 7 on p.206 (PDF page 10) of http://www.geo.utexas.edu/courses/387h/PAPERS/kiehl.pdf , "Earth's Annual Global Mean Energy Budget", by Jeff Kiehl and Kevin Trenberth, latent heat ("evapotranspiration") transports 78 W (per square meter) while sensible heat ("thermals") transports 24 W. That's more than 3 to 1. --Vaughan Pratt (talk) 00:48, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply
