Vacancy/Replacement edit

Any word on why it is vancant? Can this be addressed in the article? --Daysleeper47 (talk) 19:09, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

See http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2008/10/military_enlistedadviser_mullen_100808w/. The incoming Chairman "made this decision after long and careful consideration, and consultation with the senior enlisted advisers of the four services,” said Navy Capt. John Kirby, Mullen’s spokesman. “He has decided that it would serve him best to not necessarily fill that position with an individual, but continue to reach out on a regular and concerted basis with the senior enlisted advisers of the services and the combatant commands." The opinions of the service SEAs is provided in the article as well. I'll make a comment in the article about it. Bogomir Kovacs (talk) 15:21, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Spelling edit

I wondered about the spelling adviser or advisor. The former is preferred by most style guides including the Associated Press for the general term, but the latter is the spelling used by the military for the office. —MJBurrage(TC) 17:38, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's with an "O" -- the US military is not bound by the AP Guide :) and uses "advisor" in all circumstances. Bogomir Kovacs (talk) 15:16, 7 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Advisor is the US spelling, adviser is more common in the UK 92.9.50.236 (talk) 16:39, 17 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Team, There will be a new SEAC sworn in at 1500 on 30 September 2011. This will take place after GEN Depmsey takes the helm of the CJCS. Because it is not official until GEN Dempsey makes an announcement, I will withold information on who it is. But be prepared to make a lot of changes to this page.DODCTR (talk) 12:52, 27 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

BREAK OUT BIO TO NEW PAGE? edit

Quick work to list the new SEAC, however inclusion of Sgt Maj Battaglia's full bio seems as an affront to creating a separate entry. I suggest that the act of being selected as the first Marine and only the second senior enlisted advisor to the Chairman is noteworthy enough to warrant creation of a new page? I seek advice and consent before I make the move to spin it out to its own. Thanks. Ncohistory (talk) 19:22, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Ncohistory I agree. I'm not the best wiki editor so thus I haven't done this myself alreadyDODCTR (talk) 01:59, 5 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Out of Date edit

The incumbent SEAC is a Marine Corps E-9, yet parts of the article talk about the only SEAC as having been a soldier. This goes on to comment on insignia and other issues where I don't know what is accurate, hence tagging the article rather making changes. EdChem (talk) 08:20, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

The current SEAC is Micheal J Lewis edit

http://rfpb.defense.gov/Board-Biographies/lewis/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.80.214.159 (talk) 17:42, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

No, Micheal J Lewis is the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman at the Reserve Forces Policy Board. This page is about the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Significantly different positions.DOD Updater Private (talk) 14:06, 16 March 2018 (UTC)§Reply

As of September 2018, the position is actually unoccupied edit

Troxell has been suspended as of September 2018, pending investigation .[1][2]

As per the militarytimes article, he's temporarily removed and assigned instead as special assistant to the Vice Director, Joint Staff. Therefore, at preseent, the office is unoccupied.

Marine insignia edit

@Neovu79: Per the defense.gov source "The Institute of Heraldry provides military design support to the Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force. Development of the Marine Corps SEAC rank insignia has been added to the institute's project list for completion during this fiscal year." Seeing as the image is indeed published on the TIOH website, I would say that qualifies it as published and completed. Skjoldbro (talk) 13:50, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I think you can add the insignia. Could somebody create a correct SVG? Because the SVG at commons has only 3 bars at the bottom but the insignia has 4.--🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (talk) 14:13, 7 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Navy Insignia edit

Per https://www.doctrine.af.mil/Portals/61/documents/Airman_Development/PurpleBook.pdf the Navy insignia has been released. Could someone more skilled than I create and add the insignia to this page. Master Editor 10 (talk) 16:03, 17 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Navy & Space force insignia edit

Is the SF insignia official released? Because the ref links the Purple Book and at this book on p. 36 there is no insignia. At page 14 the show the insignia of the CMSSF. @Areoseph: you created this file. Do you have a source for the insignia? @Neovu79: you chanced the status of the Navy from Pending approval. I couldn't found sources for both chances and both file have still the ref to the Purple Book which don't support this changes. 🤾‍♂️ Malo95 (talk) 10:32, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

After the chronological list edit

In the section titled "Senior Enlisted Advisors to the Chairman by branches of service within the Department of Defense"

Think it would be better to insert a bar timeline here with colors for services

USA: Green, USMC: Red, USN: Navy Blue, USAF: Light Blue, USSF: Black

Similar to this.

Not really keen on how to do that.DOD Updater Private (talk) 14:53, 7 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Formatting of SEAC Timeline edit

I think it would be more intuitive to put the names of the personnel above the bars representing their time in the position. Tweaker626 (talk) 23:10, 6 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
