Move proposal

edit

The translation of Sendlinger Mordweichnacht is missing Christmas in its title: Sendling's Night of Murder. I propose we change the title to Sendling Christmas Massacre. imars (talk) 21:42, 24 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have no objection to any move borne out by the sources. I already have a redirect from that title, but if you put up a {{db|1=Delete for move from [[Sendling's Night of Murder]] per consensus at [[Talk:Sendling's Night of Murder]]}} the mods can get it moved over ricky-tick.
Thanks. Let's give it a while and see if there are any objections. There are not many English sources for this topic, so that gives us some freedom with the title since there is no generally accepted English translation. Aside from Christmas missing in MordWeihnacht, I find the word order a little awkward. I liken it to the Boston Tea Party. Making that title analogous to the current title of this topic would give you Boston's Party of Tea. Just my opinion. imars (talk) 07:03, 25 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Right pics for this article?

edit

Googling the German name, I get numerous hits for various images of the painting on this page: http://www.haberfeld.tv/html/mordweihn__1705.html

Is this painting a good one to pick for the article? I presume the painter died over 70yrs ago, so it should be fine to zap a copy and put it up on WikiCommons. Can any Germany experts confirm that this pic is a go, or should we find a different one? MatthewVanitas (talk) 07:27, 25 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are correct. The painter was Wilhelm Lindenschmit the Elder, who died in 1848. The German Wikipedia uses similar images...de:Munich Sendling Fresco Old Church St Margaret by Lindenschmidt.jpg, de:SendlingerMordweihnacht2.png, and de:SendlingerMordweihnacht1.png.
