Grampian

edit

"She cut her teeth with stv north (Grampian TV) and Grampian Today,"

It was Grampian TV in those days so the reference to STV is not necessary and can be removed. --jmb 01:01, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tidied up

edit

She is not a "former" TV presenter, but is still alive and kicking. I think the article should have a reference to her appearance (from an appropriate source), not least because the anecdote about bed-sheets makes little sense otherwise.

I also removed the following section. The detail is wildly out of proportion to the rest of the article (if comparable background was given for every show she fronted, the article would be vast). Also, the show has probably now aired and passed into history. It reads like a promo, in any case:

.--the Highligting the Harley roots. [sic]

03 July 2007. William Harley, father of William Sylvester Harley, was born in a house in Victoria Street, Littleport UK on May 2, 1835.

LITTLEPORT will feature in a television documentary which will include details
about one of the co-founders of the world famous Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The village is the ancestral home of William Sylvester Harley who went on to form the Harley-Davidson Motor Company in 1903.

Local businessman Tony Buckingham, owner of Lucky Charm Custom Cycles, will feature in the documentary after stumbling upon television crews.

He said: "My involvement in this programme came about purely by accident. I saw them filming in Littleport and the director approached me to tell me that the bike they were planning to use hadn't turned up. I make custom bikes so I went back and got the Road King and they agreed to use it."

Mr Buckingham was interviewed by television presenter Selina Scott and she is also filmed riding pillion on the back of his Road King Harley Davidson. He said: "I had a great time at the shoot and Selina was a lovely person and a great passenger. It was difficult keeping a big smile from my face, knowing that not only was I riding the best motorcycle in the world, but I also had Selina Scott on the back with her arms wrapped around me."

The documentary will focus on villages that were once in-land ports and will be aired in January.

William Harley, father of William Sylvester Harley, was born in a house in Victoria Street, Littleport on May 2, 1835. The house no longer stands.

He left Littleport in 1859 and immigrated to Oswego, USA and enlisted in the army. He fought on the side of the Unionists in the American Civil War.

William Sylvetser Harley was born on December 29, 1880 and went on to form the Harley-Davidson Motor Company with Arthur Davidson in 1903.

Marital Status "unknown"

edit

Has she ever been married or had any known affairs? Worth mentioning if any evidence known. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 171.192.0.10 (talk) 07:25:37, August 2, 2007 (UTC)

She may refuse to discuss her private life, but surely it is a matter of public record whether or not somebody is or has been married?Paulturtle (talk) 02:56, 24 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Private Eye - Princess Diana & Selina Scott.JPG

edit

Image:Private Eye - Princess Diana & Selina Scott.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

"Headhunted"

edit

The article mentions twice that she was headhunted for jobs. Who wrote this, Selina Scott? This is normally something you put on your CV. It's a bit redundant anyway since she is a public figure, so there was no headhunting to be done. --Thoughtcat (talk) 17:21, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
