Autobiography edit

This article was created by 菱川勢一, i.e. Hishikawa Seiichi.

(Hishikawa has made similarly single-minded contributions to ja:WP as well.) -- Hoary (talk) 14:07, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

The ja article was also created by Hishikawa. [1] It's COI, isn't it? I knew the NTT docomo CM, but I didn't know Hishikawa. I don't think he is notable enough for en WP. RSs I could find are [2] and [3]. Oda Mari (talk) 08:22, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
I guess that he is sufficiently notable, but I'm sure that neither you nor I nor anybody else should feel compelled to spend time improving the article. Perhaps User:菱川勢一 (whether this is Hishikawa or an assistant) could do this. Or of course a disinterested person who happens to be interested in TV commercials and so forth. -- Hoary (talk) 09:39, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Motion graphics edit

The article tells us that in some unspecified year (but after 1991)

he hosted a motion graphics exhibition at the Axis Gallery in Roppongi, leading the motion graphics movement and attracting a total of 45,000 visitors despite being self-hosted. Known as the founder of that movement, Hishikawa established his own design studio in 2003, Standard Series, Inc.

(My emphases)

Meanwhile, Wikipedia (not a reliable source, of course), "Motion graphics" tells us:

Saul Bass is probably the most significant pioneer in motion graphic design, and his work marks the true beginning of what is now commonly referred to as motion graphics. His work included title sequences for popular films such as The Man With The Golden Arm (1955), Vertigo (1958), Anatomy of a Murder (1959), North by Northwest (1959), Psycho (1960), and Advise & Consent (1962). His designs were simple, but effectively communicated the mood of the film.

It would seem that Bass predated Hishikawa by three decades. -- Hoary (talk) 23:59, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Photography edit

The article claims that Hishikawa is a photographer. (Over at ja:WP, User:菱川勢一 has made the same claim more dramatically.) Evidence, please. -- Hoary (talk) 23:59, 1 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
