Talk:Seed & Feed Marching Abominable

Latest comment: 1 month ago by Velella in topic Referencing

I see the page has been marked for speedy deletion. I am reading the guidelines to attempt to make the page conformant with the guidelines. I believe, based on the documentation that I am reading, that the page is a valid use of Wikipedia because it will represent an organization that has had a significant presence in the city of Atlanta for over 35 years. I will continue to attempt to justify this page as I read the guidelines and make changes I believe will satisfy the Wikipedia editors. Bklang (talk) 20:37, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

I see now that one definition of notability is to be the subject of a broadcast or news article. The band has been the subject of several such broadcasts and articles. I will find evidence and link them to the page as soon as I can. Bklang (talk) 20:41, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

The seed and feed was featured in 'this is atlanta on PBA30, the local PBS affiliate.

I believe we additionally qualify based on #7 of the Wikipedia:Notability_(music) list: "Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability." The Seed & Feed is one of the oldest community marching bands in the United States and has spawned offshoot bands in other cities. Additionally, of the community marching bands in Atlanta, the Seed & Feed is both the oldest and the largest. Bklang (talk) 20:58, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Referencing edit

THis article urgently needs to be reorganised so that references are cited in-line with the text that they are supporting - see WP:REFERENCE. Without that it is next to impossible to work out whcih reference supports which text and also impossible to determine whether notability has been demonstrated.  Velella  Velella Talk   20:47, 16 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
