Talk:Searchlight/Archives/2015

General

This about as uninformative a page of Wiki that you can get stating the obvious with enormous authority. Questions: how do search lights work? What is the lens system? How powerful are they? How many were built? Who operated them? What different technologies are (were) employed in them? At what voltage did/do they work? What effect did they have?

Hopefully, I've answered some of your questions with the latest edits. You made some valid points; however, I'm not sure there is any way to determine how many were actually built. I do know that Chester Stumph and Son had at least 100 Sperry and GE units at any given time during their 75 years in business, not counting those sold, stolen or lost to accident. The fact that searchlights were primarily cast aluminum and brass made them highly desirable to those of uncertain character. Headstone Hunter (talk)
