The name suggests that the shooting was against a person named Sean Graham rather than the betting shop. I think it should be changed.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 13:43, 13 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

My original intention was to call it Sean Graham bookmakers shooting but I wimped out as I was caught on the horns of an apostrophe-related dilemma i.e. I couldn't decide if it should be bookmakers or bookmaker's. Source use a bunch of different names to describe it (Sean Graham shooting, SG bookmakers shooting, SG bookies shooting, or any of those three with shooting replaced by killings and massacre) so there wasn't an obvious title really. We should adhere to WP:COMMONNAME according to reliable sources. I agree with Jeanne, however, that the current title could led to confusion.--Darius (talk) 23:43, 13 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
The online sources used in the article call it "gun attack on Sean Graham's Bookmaker's shop" [1], "1992 gun attack on a bookies" [2], "Sean Graham Bookmaker's Shooting" and "Sean Graham Bookmaker's massacre" [3], "bookie's shop shootings" [4], "the atrocity at Sean Graham's bookmakers" [5] and "Sean Graham's bookmakers massacre" [6] so there is no common name as such. Sean Graham with or without possessive + bookmaker with or without possessive + massacre appears twice but even then which possessive gets left in and which removed if either and is massacre acceptable as I've seen people get a bee in their bonnet about it not being NPOV. I'll leave up to the rest of you as I'm not bothered one way or the other but the reliable sources clearly don't agree on a common name. Keresaspa (talk) 01:33, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
My personal favourite is Sean Graham Bookmaker's shooting. What do the others think? I agree that there really is no common name for the attack.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 07:18, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I agree with JB for clarity purposes. ww2censor (talk) 17:09, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. The term "bookmaker" is used by almost all sources cited by Keresaspa in his comment.--Darius (talk) 19:15, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
I agree that it's probably best to include "bookmaker(s)". A couple of questions tho: Do we capitalize it or not? Do we include an apostrofy? If so, wher do we put it? ~Asarlaí 19:37, 14 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
What Asarlaí is describing was the very problem I faced too, which was why I went for the original title. I would say it should be a lower case b as it is not a proper noun but the apostrophe thing is making my brain ache as I've never quite got the hang of them! I'll happily go with consensus on that point. Keresaspa (talk) 01:02, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
The official Sean Graham website reads Sean Graham bookmakers, so based on this why not name the article Sean Graham bookmakers' shooting?--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 07:19, 15 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Works for me. Keresaspa (talk) 01:22, 16 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
Done.--Darius (talk) 01:30, 16 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
