Talk:Seabed gouging by ice

Latest comment: 11 years ago by Lusilier

Greetings! I am about to update this page, but will proceed gradually (so as to try to be consistent with related articles, e.g. icebergs, sea ice, etc.). --Lusilier (talk) 01:34, 19 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

From the research I've done on that subject, the article title 'Ice scour' may not be the best option, mainly because of its inherent ambiguity: scour BY ice, or scour ON ice, scour by ice on WHAT. This is vindicated by the suggestions for links produced by the system: none refer specifically to the action of drifting ice on a seabed, which is what this article is about. Ideally, the title of this article should be something like Seabed scouring by ice or, better, Seabed gouging by ice (since the word scour is itself ambiguous, for reason I will eventually explain in an upgraded version of this article). In other words, the current title doesn't meet with the requirements stated in Article titles. Thoughts on this, anyone? --Lusilier (talk) 01:11, 21 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I hope no one will mind if I moved this page to a new name! --Lusilier (talk) 18:50, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

By the way, as I keep working on this article, I should mention something about my affiliation (as per recommendation in Your first article): none, as of this writing.--Lusilier (talk) 18:40, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
