According to the sources, the SPL opposed cuts in teacher's pay, campaigned for lower wages for top council workers, and was in favour of building more council housing and for reduced rents and rates, with the majority of the party voting with their Labour colleagues. The party sounds more like a socialist-populist party. Its ideological position needs a source.--Britannicus (talk) 21:57, 2 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

I think the right-wing designation is fair. The party certainly sounds statist in economic outlook, but it's driving motivator appears to have been its religious social conservatism. It's probably more analogous to Fascist/Corporatist movements active at the same time elsewhere. The parties close ties with others - such as the Scottish Democratic Fascist Party, or Ulster Protestant League, or even Ratcliffe's later overt support for Fascism all suggest a similarity with other 'far-right' parties of the period.
