unsigned POV discussion

MY NAME IS PETER RIFKIND {{of the most commercially successful bands, but they were never at the "forefront". The debut was hilarious in its unoriginal parroting of Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. not true! Well that's your POV but Wikipedia aims to be neutral.

--I removed the "is bisexual" "fact" in the trivia section. Sure, Scott may do some strange things (such as dress in drag), but I have been a fan for years and never once heard any sort of confirmation that he was remotely bisexual. If someone could provide a valid citation I would be quite suprised.

traffic accident

After the breakup of STP, Weiland was arrested on October 27, 2003, in Hollywood, California, after a traffic collision with william england.

I removed the " with william england." portion because I could not find any source whatsoever.

birthplace

It says he was born in Santa Cruz at the top and in the infobox, but then it says that he said he was born in San Jose. Which is it?

Rehab

Didn't Scott kick his heroin habit through rehab and the help of Slash & Duff recently? Didn't VR have to take a hiatus while he recovered? None of that is in this article, and since his drug use seems to play prominently in his life (and the article), it probably should be.

Unfortunately, I have no source information, so someone else will have to "be bold." XAlpha 18:08, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

faith

is Scott still a christian ? or he longer believe in Jesus ? on his first cd with stp he said he tahnk God , Jesus Christ. So i just wondering, if he longer christian ? Does anyone else know ?

trivia

He was born Scott Kent (or Kline, depending on your reading source). The surname Weiland came from being adopted by his Stepfather, David Weiland.

--I removed that thing about the mombo sons song monkeyfinger or whatever. They are not even remotely popular... I mean, it took me forever to find information about the song itself on google, and they're not even sold on Amazon.com. Information of this nature appropriate at times, sure, but I really dont think this particular fact was justified under the trivia section give that the mombo sons are not known to many people at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.24.114.74 (talk) 04:19, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Departure

Isn't it possible that the article about him leaving was a April fools joke? It certainly looks like it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.158.97.18 (talk) 17:22, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Absolutly not, as many attendants of the Glasgow Concert will tell you. Weiland announced that it was VR's last tour, much to the bemusement of the other members. Shortly after, Sorum commented on the band turmoil, prompting a response from Weiland. Slash then set the record straight by saying that VR is not over and are still going to make a 3rd album. Needless to say, this is not a joke, this is real. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.157.48.70 (talk) 22:40, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Early Years

I made some grammatical changes to this section and added that he attended High School in Huntington Beach, CA.Pw92843 (talk) 06:44, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Reunited with STP

I edited a bit about his autobiography to removed the term long awaited and make it an easier read. Removed a part that mentioned STP appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Show because, well, it's a major rock band at this point, and as such appearances on late night tv show are not noteworthy in and of themselves unless there was a major announcement or event during the appearance.

Also removed a line talking about how STP took the stage late at a recent concert, mainly because there seemed to be no reason to mention it other than as a passing comment. L.cash.m (talk) 08:47, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Picture

Okay people, this is going just too far, every time I come and take a look at this article, there is a different photograph of him. Can we get a nice, front shot of him with a proper license and stop adding one picture per week, waiting for it to be deleted and adding another one? It's just silly! --MakE shout! 03:59, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Picture again

The current picture is pure rubbish because he is wearing a black hat and dark sunglasses - it is almost impossible to identify it as Scott Weiland. I'd suggest that you find a clear, frontal shot of him and lock it in place.

Amnesiac93 16:43, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

Genre

In the info box, psychedelic rock should be added. If heavy metal is there, then psychedlic rock should be there. Believe me, Scott Weiland is definitely more psychedelic rock than he is heavy metal. anyone who listens to his music can tell you this

Current picture

File:Weilandsuit2008.jpg

The current picture is so good, I'm sort of questioning its authenticity as free-use media. The uploader claims it is his own work, and while he has uploaded a couple other decent images, a majority of them are low-resolution, small size, and photographed at quite a distance from any stage. But try as I might, I was not able to find this image on a Google image search. it's a great picture of Mr. Weiland, kudos to the uploader if it's his! – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 05:06, 24 January 2010 (UTC)

Scott Weiland and Kurt Cobain friends?

I read on some places that they were friends (or at least did drugs together), is this true? --Dexter_prog (talk · contribs · count) @ 21:56, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

Soundtrack table

There is no need for the table in Weiland's discography that indicates some movie soundtracks his work has appeared in. The chart is likely incomplete and not necessary to include on someone's page that is as well-known as Scott Weiland. None of his contemporaries (Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, etc.) have soundtrack tables like this on their wikipedia pages.

I believe they are requesting to change the location of death. But Billboard, and Scott's FB page report Bloomington, MN not Medina, MN. — DLManiac (talk) 09:04, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
I believe they are pointing out that while he died in Bloomington, MN, the concert was scheduled for Median, MN (about 20-30 minutes away by car). It may be worth noting that the concert that was scheduled for that day (Dec 3) was actually cancelled before the fact due to slow ticket sales, so his next concert was actually scheduled for a later date in Rochester, MN. This was covered by Minnesota Public Radio, although it does not currently appear fully on their website at this time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:EA00:101:240A:D4DE:7FAA:93CC:5999 (talk) 14:55, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Date of death incorrect.

It is listed as him dying December 3, 2015 and the results being released December 4, 205 where it should read December 4, 2015 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.206.139.101 (talk) 19:59, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Birthplace incorrect.

Birthplace was subtly edited by 75.172.98.132 (talk) at 02:01, 4 September 2009 from Santa Cruz, California (correct) to Seattle, Washington (incorrect and uncited). Probably believable due to the strong grunge music/Seattle connection. Current page shows San Jose, California (also incorrect) with a poor citation source. Not a big wiki user and page is protected anyhow. Someone should fix this oversight. Looks like it came up in archived talk pages as well, and was ignored. 208.187.17.40 (talk) 16:41, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

The New York Times claims he was born in San Jose: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/05/arts/music/scott-weiland-dies-stone-temple-pilots.html?_r=0 "Mr. Weiland was born Scott Richard Kline on Oct. 27, 1967, in San Jose, Calif. His parents divorced when he was 2 years old, and his mother, Sharon, married David Weiland, who formally adopted him." Along with other reputable sources claiming he was born in San Jose, I think this would require actually having a citation of something that we know is correct, does anyone have a link to what to do when multiple source disagree about something? JVittes (talk) 19:26, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Entirely possible NYT used Wikipedia as a source since article was written today? I could counter with Washington post saying Santa Cruz: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/12/04/scott-weiland-singer-of-stone-temple-pilots-dead-at-48/ Older web presences also say Santa Cruz. See: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0917993/ If you just type the question into google, Google result is Santa Cruz, CA. As a fellow native of Santa Cruz I just thought it should be correct. This sort of minutiae is tedious to me so I will let wikipedians sort it from here. 208.187.17.40 (talk) 22:19, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Correction for "Death"

Weiland was *not* scheduled to perform the day he died (Dec 3); that performance was cancelled due to poor ticket sales (http://www.startribune.com/rocker-scott-weiland-dies-in-bloomington-while-on-tour-statement-says/360537001/). His next scheduled performance was the day after he did (Dec 4) when he was scheduled to perform in Rochester. The way this section is currently worded can suggest that he was scheduled to perform in Bloomington, which was never a performance city for this tour (Dec 3 was Medina, MN). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.163.130 (talk) 03:25, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Scott Weiland's death

Caused to death cardiac arrest in Bloomington, Minnestoa. when tour bus i can believe your Love Scott! ♥. Bennyclaire (talk) 08:13, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Your statement makes no sense in English. Whatever you were trying to say, the Talk Pages are not for idle dribble from some adoring fan, but for improvement of the articles by discussing the use of Reliable Sources. They are also not a forum. See WP:FORUM. 98.67.191.219 (talk) 15:35, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

In any regard, should the section really be saying the cause of death is cardiac arrest? From all news reports I heave read, the investigation is ongoing to the cause of death, and officials have not released a statement, with cardiac arrest being just the most accepted belief. Perhaps the section should say "...died in his sleep of probable cardiac arrest, however official cause has not yet been determined". --HuggaBounce (talk) 12:41, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

He died of an overdose - we just need to hear the official statement. I believe they call it a cocaine seizure.68.19.2.31 (talk) 19:45, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Unsupported instruments

The infobox has a long list of instruments, but I could not find any discussion of the how the subject played them. Template:Infobox musical artist#instrument includes, in part, "Instruments listed in the infobox should be limited to only those that the artist is primarily known for using. The instruments infobox parameter is not intended as a WP:COATRACK for every instrument the subject has ever used." Fix it please. Walter Görlitz (talk) 04:11, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

Done. Jeremy112233 (Lettuce-jibber-jabber?) 15:28, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
He has played keyboards and/or guitar on various albums by STP and other groups (and solo albums) though. Should those instruments perhaps be included? RockNWrite82
Not in the infobox but, they should be brought up in prose if not already. Mlpearc (open channel) 02:32, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

STP dead letter

I find it excessive that the full letter their ex-bandmates wrote for his death be reproduced here. A paragraph stating that they wrote it and maybe an excerpt is enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.18.78.181 (talk) 20:58, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
