Talk:Scott Simpson (politician)

Pre-election Information edit

As the following information has been supported across multiple sources, I have included this in the article.

The blogs suggest Scott Simpson had a high place in the National Party hierarchies. Whaleoil lists him as “a self described campaign expert” who has previously stood for selection in Tamaki, whilst Kiwiblog states he has been a National Party Northern Regional Chair and a member of the Party’s Board of Directors. The New Zealand Herald confirms his past role as a member of the “party board” and further his role as past Regional Chair and Tamaki candidate.

I am not sure whether or not to include the following information and would appreciate some guidance.

On his campaign website, Scott Simpson states that he is a Justice of the Peace (JP). This is restated in other forums (e.g. his National Party bio, different media). JPs must be gazetted (http://www.jpfed.org.nz/page.php?11). There is a listing for a JP named "Simpson, Scott Anthony" in The New Zealand Gazette. No other "Scott Simpson" appears with the term "Justice of the Peace" when post-1993 searches of the Gazette are undertaken. WP:PRIMARY doesn't support wide use of primary sources, but inclusion would confirm this detail.

Scott Simpson identifies himself as a member of the Institute of Directors on his campaign website. Even if he has agreed to make his details available other members, this statement cannot be confirmed without Institute membership. He does not restate the claim on the National Party website. The claim therefore cannot be verified through multiple sources. --Te Karere (talk) 11:29, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
