Talk:Science and technology in Argentina/Archive 1

Untitled

We are not starting well for a scientific article on science in Argentina if we allow the following INCONSISTENCY: It says that only 4 out of 5 adults have complete elementary level (80%), while just besides the literacy level world map says >97% !!! Even if I like it would be that way, I know this last is not true. PLEASE correct the map or plainly remove it. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.82.51.104 (talk) 19:27, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Reading and writing are both taught in the first years of elementary school, therefore, even if someone hasn't completed it, it does not necessarily mean they don't know how to read and write. The map you're talking about is information displayed from a verifiably source, we cannot just "correct" it or delete it.Leodj1992 (talk) 18:48, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

SI (metric) abbreviations

In Buenos Aires and probably elsewhere in Argentina, signs have unorthodox abbreviations for the word "metre." The common abbreviation for metres there is "Mts."—four characters in place of "m", the international standard abbreviation. There is, however, no consistency in usage.

As an aside, both "Lts." and "l" are used in measures of volume, as well as the superseded "cc".Torontonian1 (talk) 15:05, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
