List of schools
editIt seems to me that the list of examples is more illustrative than the raw description. I vote it stays. I am open to well reasoned arguments elsewise. Rhadow (talk) 17:03, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
- The only thing it illustrates is that it has happened--but that's it. Were they recurring things? Were they disputed things? Did they do it once and then decided it was indeed a boneheaded idea? - If this were an academic article, it would have several sections in the body: the hypothesis, discussion of observations, and predictions based on the hypothesis. We have the hypothesis section: the definition. We should have the discussion of the observations: the list of schools participating. This is an encyclopedia, so predictions are not appropriate. I believe you Drmies bring some POV to the discussion when you describe school gun raffles as a boneheaded idea. These schools, in their localities, find this to be an effective fund raising method. The list serves to demonstrate that the method is not rare, even if it is not spread across the United States. Rhadow (talk) 12:47, 23 February 2018 (UTC)
- Le sigh. I didn't say it was a boneheaded idea; I said it might have been and that's why a school might not have done it more than once. You have not addressed the problems I pointed out: lists can be misleading since your list enumerates single instances without context.
