With or without "c"? edit
I wonder why this disambiguation is under the spelling with "c".
If I understand it right:
- The spelling without "c" is Yiddish,
- The word "shmendrik" is Yiddish and
- The spelling with "c" is German.
- And I suppose the English tend to write it without "c" too.
I, personally, tend to write words as close to the original as possible.
Therefore I opt
- to put this disambiguation under the spelling without "c" and
- to create an article with "c" which automatically leads to the disambiguation page.

- Hi there. Shmendrik is indeed the correct transliteration from Yiddish.
- And, I agree with the principles behind your point.
- But note that the play and the character actually have different names. The play is called Shmendrik, and the character is called Schmendrick. That's what they're actually called. So you could argue that grouping them together in one disambiguation page is already a bit of a stretch, because they're actually not the same.
- And, if we move the disambiguation page to Shmendrik as you suggest, we would also have to move the article about the play, because it's using the title you want. So the play would have to be moved to Shmendrik (play) or something like that. Dr. Vogel (talk) 11:11, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
