Discrepancies in news reports
editA couple of the sources for this story seem to indicate that the subject is accused in connection with an actual murder plot, or words to that general effect. The actual indictment does not charge the subject with conspiracy to commit murder. Perhaps we can find more sourcing later to clear up this discrepancy. - I don't think that there is any problem whatsoever inasfar as "the need to find additional sources". Cox has been the subject of near-constant media attention for about the past three or four years.
- What troubles me is that this article attempts to portray ties between Cox and well-known figures such as Don Young, Sarah Palin and Joe Miller, despite these connections being rooted more in speculation than fact. Michael Dukes may not be as well-known as the others, but their ties are a lot more visible. The reported targets of the 241 plot have included Ralph R. Beistline and members of the Alaska State Troopers, yet there is no mention of that, either.RadioKAOS (talk) 20:44, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

InmateFinderServlet apparently no longer able to process parameterised URL searches
editIn the course of updating the article with the Nov 2019 decision to commute Cox's sentence by 10 years, I noted that his new release date stated in or calculated from media reports seemed inconsistent with information already in the article. I reviewed the cited source (ref 31 of the 17 July 2024 version of the article, The Federal Bureau of Prisons) for the release date of October 26, 2033, and despite much searching for documentation or explanations and carrying out experimental searches, all I could get the parameterised URL (http://www.bop.gov/iloc2/InmateFinderServlet?Transaction=NameSearch&needingMoreList=false&FirstName=Francis&Middle=&LastName=Cox&Race=U&Sex=U&Age=&x=92&y=17) to return was a 404 error. However, dumping the InmateFinderServlet component and the parameters and replacing "iloc2" with "inmateloc" opens a GUI. Entering the names "Francis" and "Cox" finds Schaeffer's details with a release date given as 09/06/2024. Assuming that this is US format date, MM/DD/YYYY, meaning he should be out in just over one month. (If DD/MM/YYYY format, he would, of course, already have been released and presumably his details no longer available from this source.)
