Notability of upcoming films edit

The notability guideline for films is against upcoming films having articles unless they have commenced or completed shooting, therefore it would seem wise to merge Scary Movie 5 here. Any objections? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 02:10, 9 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

How do you know they haven't commenced shooting? ChunkyKong12345 15:58, 18 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

This has gone through AfD and deletion review and was approved to having an article. --sumnjim talk with me·changes 19:15, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Keeping it was a fair choices, just needed help

terrible writing edit

This article is terribly written. 66.92.53.160 (talk) 11:14, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

If your going redirect when typing scary movie 5 atleast mention it in the article- c_falco 20:46, 9 March 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by C falco (talkcontribs)

No, SM5 has not begun filming, so it can't be included in the article per WP:CRYSTAL. Ward3001 (talk) 21:21, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
It has now. So hurry up and make an article or I will! Or maybe you are. Misteryoshi|you're not colorblind, it's colored this way. Or maybe you are. Misteryoshi|white}} 21:26, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
See IMDb here. So you need a solid source that filming has started. Otherwise it will be reverted. And this (cited previously) is not an official source. I could create a website called scarymovie5info.com and claim that it's official, but that doesn't make it true. Ward3001 (talk) 21:33, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Article cleanup edit

As detailed in the February 2008 AfD, this article needs to be cleaned to high hell. Needs to probably have an overview section, info on all the actors on the series maybe, info on production and other relevant information. Right now, its very crufty. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 16:08, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Scary Movie---- edit

There are about 10 other wikipedia pages that link to "Scary Movie 5", which redirects here. Can we get some kind of info on 5 here, because I'm sure there are a lot of people clicking through to read about it, and there's absolutely nothing here. 210.49.45.114 (talk) 16:51, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Got a source that it has begun filming? If not, the answer is no. Read WP:CRYSTAL. Ward3001 (talk) 18:52, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
WP:CRYSTAL says: "Individual scheduled or expected future events should only be included if the event is notable and almost certain to take place. If preparation for the event is not already in progress, speculation about it must be well documented." Scary Movie 5 is notable (when the movie comes out Wikipedia will definitely have an article on it) and preparation is indeed in progress; the project is sufficiently developed that it is highly likely the movie will come out in 2011. IMDbPro, a paid-subscription site, is a reliable source not given to idle speculation. 88.233.36.11 (talk) 00:12, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Two points: IMDb is not an acceptable source on Wikipedia because much of it is not under editorial control, and IMDbPro is especially unacceptable because it requires membership. Secondly, it not considered "almost certain to take place" on Wikipedia until filming has begun. Many films have started pre-production but were later scrapped before filming began. It may be true that Wikipedia "will definitely have an article on it" if it comes out, but we're a long way from knowing whether that will happen. Reverted. Ward3001 (talk) 02:05, 9 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I think both are your private and particular interpretation of the rules. 88.233.36.11 (talk) 13:44, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

What you really mean is that the rules don't allow you to do as you wish. Look around. IMDb has been reverted thousands of time as a source on Wikipedia. And look at item number 6 at WP:External links#Links normally to be avoided regarding websites that require registraiton. When SM5 begins filming, you can add it. Otherwise leave it out. Ward3001 (talk) 16:32, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The External links guideline states in the introductory section: "The subject of this guideline is external links that are not citations of article sources." It does not apply here. And how is this so totally different from 2016 Summer Olympics? The rationale for the crystal ball rule is that Wikipedia is not a collection of unverifiable speculation. However, the statement "According to IMDbPro a development project is underway for Scary Movie 5" is totally verifiable, and does actually not qualify for being classified as "speculation".
Please do not attack me personally because you do not agree with my interpretation of the rules. I do not personally care whether there is information here about Scary Movie 5 (I haven't seen any of the movies in the series and have no intention to do so), but as the case is, the link Scary Movie 5 refers to this article—as I discovered accidentally by following that link from another article—and in such cases the reader should not look in total vain for a mention of the topic in the article they were referred to. 88.233.36.11 (talk) 17:32, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
There was no personal attack. You simply interpreted my pointing out Wikipedia policies and guidelines that don't let you do as you please as a personal attack. Now, I'll say this for a third (and last) time: IMDb is not an acceptable source, and IMDbPro is even more unacceptable. That's my last time saying that. You can either follow policies, or receive the consequences for not doing so. I will not repeat myself endlessly. Your saying the same thing over and over does not make it right. Ward3001 (talk) 18:17, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
"or receive the consequences" — Is that a threat? Not only are you at least as repetitive as I am, you also ignore my specific refutation of your particular interpretation and application to this case of the EL guideline and the Crystal ball rule. As to citing IMDb: the Citing IMDb page does not even come close to suggesting that in this case IMDb is not an acceptable source. Roger Ebert appears to find IMDb generally reliable.[1] You repeat that "IMDbPro is even more unacceptable", apparently because you need to register for it, but there is no rule that this makes a source less acceptable; you are just making this up. Most importantly, if IMDbPro states that a development project is underway for Scary Movie 5, then ipso facto this is a ultra-reliable source for the statement: ""According to IMDbPro a development project is underway for Scary Movie 5", even if IMDbPro gets its information generally wrong 97.2% of the time. 88.233.36.11 (talk) 19:10, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Not a threat, not from me anyway. It's a statement of the potential consequences of violating policy, whether by you, me, or anyone else. And as I said, I'm not repeating policy or guideline statements endlessly. Follow policy or not; it's your choice. Ward3001 (talk) 19:23, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Anna Farris Interview edit

Is this a reliable source? It features an interview with Anna Farris over the production delays. She says that she does not know if the film will actually be made, but since it appears to be being discussed, it seems like it might be worth a mention. http://www.moviehole.net/200918959-exclusive-anna-faris-on-scary-movie-5

There are a few posters flying around the Internet, but I'm not sure that they are official, since most of them say that it's comming soon, but it isn't even in production yet (and none of the dates are coherent). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.147.65.33 (talk) 01:20, 12 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

No page for Scary Movie edit

Can someone please make a page for the first scary movie. This article is about the franchise but there is no article about the first movie. The other ones in the series have their own page.

Scary Movie is alive and well. Has been for some time.—Kww(talk) 04:07, 27 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Chris Elliot edit

why isn't his name listed along with the rest of the cast of characters? He played a major role in Part 2, and I'm pretty sure he was in Part 4. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.82.70.148 (talk) 08:48, 28 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if it was you who edited the page, but when someone apparently added Chris Elliot, it destroyed the bottom portion of the page. It will either be fixed or deleted.Sallyboy44 (talk) 02:14, 19 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Scream" was originally named "Scary Movie". Coincidental or not? edit

Scream (film)#Production notes that the film was originally titled Scary Movie. Is that a mere coincidence, or is the title of the parody a subtle nod to the original? --Florian Blaschke (talk) 17:53, 11 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Probably the later since both films were produced/released by The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films. —Mike Allen 22:16, 11 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Charlie Sheen edit

I have heard that Charlie Sheen is going to be in Scary Movie 5, and he is listed as such in the main characters section. However, I thought that he was going to be playing himself, married to Lindsey Lohan, not his character from the previous movies. If this is true, shouldn't this not be listed in the same row as that for his character? Alphius (talk) 00:16, 2 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Realistically since the new film is a different storyline (with some of the same people) it should have its own character list below the current one. If they continue with this new storyline (I don't think this series will ever finally die) then more columns for those movies can be added. I don't see the sense in having them mixed either. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.54.77.187 (talk) 17:40, 6 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Scary Movie 5 needs it's own page edit

Scary Movie 5 needs it's own page already. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.255.153.1 (talk) 23:23, 16 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ok. I'll see if I have time I'll create one at WP:AFC. Others are welcome to start one if they like. Masterpeace3 (talk) 10:15, 17 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

One week later and still no page for Scary Movie 5, and we even have the first official still. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.210.163.17 (talk) 17:17, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

The article was created yesterday at Scary Movie 5. I've added a link to this film series article. If you can, please help clean up the new film article to look like the others! :) Erik (talk | contribs) 17:38, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Was reading about Category:Exploitation films. In particular, the Mockbuster genre.

Wouldn't films like the Scary Movie series as well as some others in recent years (can't remember the specific titles... but you know what I mean) belong in this? Ranze (talk) 23:46, 3 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

See Also: Date Movie (2006) edit

The style and comedy of "Date Movie" is the same as "Scary Movie," as well as the font of the movie title. It was released just after "Scary Movie 4" and targeted the same audience. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.63.2.246 (talk) 20:12, 17 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Assessment comment edit

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Scary Movie (film series)/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

There is no Wikipedia article about the first Scary Movie film. All the links in this article take you back to this article about the complete series. Scary Movie 2-4 all have their own articles, yet Scary Movie does not.
