Plagiarized? edit

This page has been edited because a great deal of the information was blatantly plagiarized from the Savannah Country Day School website, and a much of said content was un-encyclopedic and/or did not have the proper tone. JimboMaloi 03:01, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please provide a link to the content it plagiarises. Computerjoe's talk 15:27, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
For the record, the history section did copy word-for-word one or two sentences from the school website, but I have re-written it. CT Cooper · talk 19:21, 16 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Opinions in Article edit

'Because of the Honor Council, a student, for instance, could feel free the put personal belongings outdoors or in a locker without a lock on and expect them untouched after class."

This is an opinion and shouldn't be included in an encyclopedia entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.220.3.133 (talkcontribs) 03:41, August 14, 2007 (UTC)

This is not an opinion because it does not express any one persons opinion: it states a fact. Sgc21896 13:19, 20 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Assessment edit

I am assessing this article after a request as Start / Low. Contains plenty of content, an info-box and a few references. Firstly, the article will need more references on its content - and a dedicated references section should be created like with other articles. Second, trivia sections are discouraged on Wikipedia so it would be better if that section was merged with the rest of the article. Third, the "Honor Code" section reads very much like an analysis and needs a clean-up. Because of the Honor Code, a student, for instance, could feel free to put personal belongings outdoors or in a locker without a lock on and expect them untouched after class. That sentence really stuck out for me - it is unsourced and original research. Forth, more on the schools campus and curriculum would be good, what is unique about the schools teaching style? Finally, some pictures would be nice, perhaps of the campus. Camaron1 | Chris 13:14, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

PROD contested edit

After doing some research I have decided to contest the PROD that had been added. The article needs work but this appears to be quite a notable school, and covers both elementary and middle school level. A search reveals a variety of independent sources, hence I am confident that a high quality article could be written on it. Camaron1 | Chris 18:11, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you could go ahead and list those independent sources here or in the article, that would be very helpful and could head off an AfD nomination. Thanks. — Satori Son 22:33, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
It so happens I found this article again by chance a few months ago, after completely forgetting about it after all these years. My account was named Camaron1, but I re-named it to Camaron, then again re-named to CT Cooper, in case there is any confusion. Since the article clearly needed attention, I have spent the afternoon re-writing it. I hope that the number of third-party sources now meets WP:N to everyone's satisfaction. I have also used the school's website a lot as there is a lot of useful material on there. I think there is plenty more room for expansion, particularly if someone gets hold of the book on the school's history, since the bomb incident is only a small part of the school's long history. I am also taking the liberty of upping the school's assessment rating to C-class. CT Cooper · talk 19:29, 16 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just some things to think about edit

Hello! So I think there are a couple of small things to consider in writing this article. First of all, after looking at the talk page, I saw that the page was rated as low priority and that it was even nominated to be taken down in August 2010. Luckily, this did not happen, but I think that there are ways to improve this article to move it up on the rankings and prevent if from being taken down in the future.

I think it is important that in the parts talking about the orchestra that there should be a citation after the fact that the SCDS orchestra was the only orchestra to be selected in Universal. Otherwise, this comment may seem a little biased.

I also think that in the information about the numbers in every single grade should be citated. This are number facts that unless given a valid source could be considered made up.

I think that the club listing should be expanded a little bit further. There are some clubs, such as Amanuensis, that would only be clear to those who go to the school. (having been recent graduate, I know what it is, but anybody who isn't affiliated would have no clue).

Segregation academy? edit

This school is tagged as Category:Segregation academies in Georgia and included on the list of segregation academies, perhaps because of the tag. While I don't have any reason to doubt that SCDS was founded as a segregation academy, the article doesn't include any discussion to support that categorization, and a quick search didn't turn up any reliable-looking sources to support it either.Rks13 (talk) 22:33, 13 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
