This article says "at one time or another" and listed the calibers the Savage 99 was chambered in. Why not give specific years for when it was first chambered in each caliber?

Possible issue edit
The article states that Savage invented the detachable magazine in 1908, but others, like the Short-magazine Lee-Enfield used detachable magazines previously. Should this be removed? Drumminor2nd (talk) 23:07, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. Probably it just needs rewording, it actually claims he invented the "modern" detachable magazine, and there is a patent, so some investigation and rewording is probably necessary. AliveFreeHappy (talk) 23:34, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
What he patented were improvements on a detachable magazine. There were other detachable magazine-fed firearms produced decades before the patent date, including the Lee-Metford, the Lee-Enfield and several pistols. As it wasn't implemented in the Savage 99 until the 1960s, the discussion of the origin of the detachable magazine should probably be discussed in the Magazine (firearms) article, rather than here. I am removing the reference. Someone will need to find a reference showing the exact date of the Model 99c was introduced and write a new section on that. Lead-in and other issues edit
I have several additional issues with this article: -The intro paragraph talks more about the .300 Savage cartridge than the rifle, which is more appropriate in the .300 Savage article than in the Model 99 article. -Who says Savage is best-known for the Model 99? There is no reference for that. That is a very subjective statement, and if no-one objects, I will remove it. -The article states "The Model 1895 was the first lever action designed to shoot high-powered cartridges with spitzer bullets, nitrocellulose powder and berdan primers." There have been other lever-action rifles for these types of bullets, such as the Winchester Model 1895. Which came first? -The idea of discussing the Savage 1895 inside an article about it's decendent seems backwards. Would it not be better to either have a separate article on the 1895 or have the Model 99 as a sub-section of the 1895, rather than the other way around?
