NPOV

edit

"The Village was incorporated in part in response to the total failure of government in adjacent East St. Louis, Illinois to deliver essential services, and in part to take advantage of federal grant funding programs available only to governmental units, as opposed to private industry."

How on Earth is this possibly NPOV? "Total Failure"? East St Louis has serious problems, but "total failure"? 67.169.145.35 (talk) 21:01, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • 1.Last time i drove through town Sauget was resedentally 100% white. Unless the census considers day time employees of businnesses with in city limits in its population demographics. Sauget is 100% white.
  • 2. Sauget is amoung the top ten super fund sites receving money from the federal govt. for mitigation of its polluted soil and drainage ditches. Due mainly to Monsantos practices of hazmat disposal up until the early 80s when more stringent EPA strandards took effect. Creating what is referred to as dead creek a dranage ditch that runs through resedental neighborhoods in neighboring communities eventally leading to the Mississippi river via the Cahokia canal. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.141.2.175 (talk) 02:54, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
As I understand it, a more accurate statement would be, "Incorporation of this and other villages by corporations operating within what was previously the city limits of East St. Louis greatly contributed to the eventual failure of that city's government, as the municipal tax base was significantly reduced; also, it permitted Monsanto to take advantage of federal grant funding programs available only to governmental units, as opposed to private industry, thus concentrating the benefit of those funding programs for Monsanto rather than the greater population of East St. Louis." 128.206.208.6 (talk) 12:32, 20 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Sauget Superfund Status

edit

There are two sites in Sauget that have been proposed for the Superfund National Priorities List: Sauget Area 1 and Sauget Area 2. Final listing on the NPL has not occurred. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 9hgw (talkcontribs) 17:35, 21 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
