"the base of several well-read critics":

I think what's meant is "widely-read," not "well-read." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.35.208.215 (talk) 01:36, 17 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Contradictory claims edit

After reading the cited article by Greg Lindsay, I have added some more data from that source and rewritten all with in-line refs to that source. Along the way I have deleted some substantial unattributed claims that do or seem to contradict that source.

"Publication ended in 1986."
Lindsay gives 1982 and 1984 as plausible candi-dates so give both in the infobox with brief supporting quotation in the text.
  • "For much of its later existence, it was edited and published by Norman Cousins." "Norman Cousins, the former owner, purchased back the magazine [in 1973 or so]."
Lindsay says N.C. resigned 1971 when new owners split the magazine. If he was the 1971 seller, presumably shocked by the subsequent restructuring, that is crucial to say clearly with a reference. If he was the 1961 seller to McCall's, that needs saying. Anyway "much of its later existence" needs specification.
