First openly gay cast member

edit

While there's no question Terry Sweeny was gay, I cannot find any source to indicate any other cast members of SNL to be openly gay. So why does it say "first?" This implies others. It should be rephrased to say "Openly gay cast member" or something along those lines. 99.53.168.200 (talk) 22:58, 27 August 2011 (UTC)Bea BryantReply

It is in no way incorrect to describe the first person in a particular social or political context to come out as gay as "the first", regardless of whether others have followed to date or not. The show is still ongoing today, after all, and thus the possibility still exists of a second gay male cast member, either an existing one coming out or a new one being added to the show, coming to the fore. If you feel particularly strongly about it, you may change the wording from "first" to "first and to date only", but this is not a situation that warrants the use of the {{dubious}} tag as the basic fact itself isn't in dispute. Unexplained cross denotation

edit

Danitra Vance, Billy Martin and Dudley Moore all have a cross (†) next to their names, yet the symbol's meaning is not noted anywhere in the article. Can someone explain/elaborate? ++Arx Fortis (talk) 08:31, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

After searching through the history, I decided to remove them. It appears someone was trying to use them to denote deceased persons. ++Arx Fortis (talk) 08:41, 18 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
