Sourcing edit

Please do not use sources published during the Raj period (or earlier) as verification for statements. Such sources are almost without exception considered to be unreliable. If something is notable, it will have been dealt with by more modern sources, certainly post-independence/partition and probably within the last 30 years or so. - Sitush (talk) 01:02, 19 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Edits in 2022 edit

This article has seen persistent attempts at rewriting by a series of IPs. At the face it of it, it looks alright: there's plenty of refs in the new additions. However, all these IPs are almost certainly socks of Thakor Sumant Sinhji Jhala and I've been pretty much reverting them on sight. But given that the article is otherwise just a single-sentence stub sourced to the Raj-era Bombay gazetteer, I've been thinking if there nevertheless is something good in those additions that we can incorporate. So, looking at this version, I tried to check ref #3. It looks reliable overall, but the passage relevant to the topic is nothing more than a mention in the middle of an enumeration of 22 subdivisions of the Talabdas subgroup of Kolis (that's footnote 8 of chapter 5 doi:10.1093/acprof:oso/9780199463749.003.0006), and is itself sourced to the Bombay gazetteer. Furthermore, the reference in the Wikipedia appears to quote a passage from this book, but that quote is actually a mash-up of two unrelated footnotes (6 and 8). So, unless this is some bizarre one-off error, I doubt these additions could be salvaged without a full check of all sources. – Uanfala (talk) 14:49, 20 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
