I have altered the wording here slightly. Sarre is not considered to be part of St Nicholas at Wade civil parish - it is part of it. A civil parish (CP) often has other settlements within its borders, and is usuaully larger than the main village itself. And it was not the CPs that combined in Elizabethan times, but the ecclestiastical (ie church) parishes. CPs didn't exist until the late 19th century and are now the third tier of local government.
