Just created the page. I hope it's ok that I don't really refer to it as "Freshwater sardinella". The species is endemic to the Philippines and I've only ever heard the term "Tawilis" used here. Shrumster 21:59, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Salinyasi and Tawilis edit

I don't know how and where to insert this information to the article but I would like to note the following information:

In light of the inclusion of the tawilis to the list of endangered species last January 2019, a food processing firm has halted the production of their tawilis products^[1]
It was also around this time when a news article mentions that some fish being marketed in local fish markets as tawilis are actually salinyasi, a fish with the same Sardinella genus that looks similar to tawilis but has a harder fishbone compared to tawilis.^[2]
