Suggestions for the content and organization of this article edit
As I am not Pakastani, have never been to Pakistan, and know little about it, I do not feel it is appropriate for me to make changes to this article. However, I am a frequent user of Wikipedia and have edited a few articles, so would like to make some suggestions for improvement, ways to make it more 'user-friendly' to readers:
Presently this article does not follow the regular wikipedia 'model' and it lacks some basic information. Keep the breadth of your audience in mind when writing wikipedia articles. I came upon this article while researching what to wear to my friends' Deepavali celebration. I knew virtually nothing about either Indian or Pakistani clothing. I had no idea what a 'shalwar' was. The first 2 lines of the article (and only lines before the 'contents') are "There are two types of Saraiki shalwar suits which originate in the southern area of Punjab, Pakistan. These are the Bahawalpuri shalwar suit and the Multani shalwar suit." And even reading further down, I still couldn't find an actual definition. So, first and foremost, I recommend adding a sentence or 2 at the very beginning explaining what a shalwar/salwar is then what, specifically, a 'Saraiki shalwar' is. At the very least, add something like "This article is about the type of salwar suit worn in the Punjab region. For general information about Salwars, see Salwar." and make the last word, Salwar, a hyperlink to the article here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shalwar_kameez.
A good Wikipedia article starts with a definition/basic description suitable for someone who comes to wikipedia with no idea what the title word(s) mean after (for example) seeing them in a book or news article or online. Some articles have, as the very first line, a sentence explaining what the article is about with links to either 1.) other article(s) with the same, or a very similar, title ('John Wayne' was an actor but it's also an airport, the title of a Lady Gaga song, the name of a Canadian comedian, etc. This is called 'disambiguation') or 2.) article(s) dealing with a related topic (wikipedia's 'Assassination of John F. Kennedy' article says "For a chronological guide to this subject, see Timeline of the John F. Kennedy assassination"). #2 is very helpful for articles like this one that are about a specific type or subgroup of a more general topic; feel free to use my suggestion at the end of the previous paragraph if you like.
In a good article, next comes the table of contents. Then the first paragraph below that is a more in-depth description of what the subject of the article is (Saraiki shalwar suits in this case). This is followed by paragraphs with additional information such as etymology, history, modern usage (where/when it is worn and by whom, examples in the media, controversies around it, etc.). Good articles end with 'see also', references, bibliography, external links. Granted, not every topic needs all of these things; they aren't always applicable. But I think this article would benefit from some of them. For an example of an article that has a good order, appropriate sections, etc, check out dirndl: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirndl. It has a particularly good example of what should come before the 'Contents'. I like en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salwar too.
