NPOV / SELFPROMOTE / COISELF edit

Untitled edit

I have shortened / rewritten this article, which read like a resume rather than an encyclopedic article. The editing history revealed that it was mostly written by Mr. Buttoo himself. Wikipedia is not LinkedIn, however, and not meant for self-promotion. Hopefully the new version fits better in the context of an encyclopedia.

It might be useful to consult the Wikipedia Conflict of Interest page, which explains that:

As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia's goal is to provide reliable, nonpartisan information. Readers expect neutral articles written independently of the article's subject, not a corporate or personal webpage, nor a forum for advertising or self-promotion.

Regarding "Writing about yourself, family, friends", it specifies that:

You should not create or edit articles about yourself, your family, friends or foes. If you have a personal connection to a topic or person, you are advised to refrain from editing those articles directly and to provide full disclosure of the connection if you comment about the article on talk pages or in other discussions.

Biographical articles by the subject or a close associate can present a biased viewpoint of that person, often unintentionally

In addition, Wikipedia:Autobiography notes:

Editing a biography about yourself is acceptable only if you are removing unambiguous vandalism or clear-cut and serious violations of our biography of living persons policy.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. We want biographies here, not autobiographies. [..] If you create an autobiography, you must have no promotional intent and must be willing to accept it being neutralized if it is not neutral [..].

Maybe someone else would also like to check to what extent the references which are currently included in the article are necessary/relevant? They seem to mostly just be examples of reporting by Mr. Buttoo. --No-itsme (talk) 11:14, 21 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
