Gay Icon Project

In my effort to merge the now-deleted list from the article Gay icon to the Gay icons category, I have added this page to the category. I engaged in this effort as a "human script", adding everyone from the list to the category, bypassing the fact-checking stage. That is what I am relying on you to do. Please check the article Gay icon and make a judgment as to whether this person or group fits the category. By distributing this task from the regular editors of one article to the regular editors of several articles, I believe that the task of fact-checking this information can be expedited. Thank you very much. Philwelch 20:11, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Along those lines, is she a lesbian? I came to wikipedia looking for the answer to my question and it doesn't say in the article. I was wondering if it crosses the line to indicate whether or not she is gay in her personal life. No offense is intended, I was really just curious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.131.32.172 (talk) 22:30, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Libertarian cat

There was no real assertion in the article that Sandra Bernhard is a libertarian, so I removed the tag. If anyone has a source, please feel free to add it. --Deville (Talk) 23:34, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Bernhard campaigned heavily for John Kerry, but in her 2006 show did a routine about how she would have preferred Howard Dean, so if anything she is a democrat or member of The Green Party. Pacian 05:34, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, that pretty much nails the issue down then.. thanks Deville (Talk) 02:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC)

Two Versions of "Everything Bad and beautiful" ??

Until someone can source the claim that there are two versions of the above album I am removing the claim. I attended the show live in New York City and I bought the CD at the release party the day it came out, and the track listing on my version is identical to the listing on the version currently available on Bernhard's website, so I can't imagine there is a second version with an alternate track listing in existence. Article plagiarized by newspaper

The Philadelphia newspaper "Key to Philadelphia" has plagiarized this article in their January 15-28, 2007 issue. It contains the following text which is copied almost identical to a passage in this article. The news article states:

""When asked by Barbra Walters to discuss her opinion of Laura Bush her answer sent Republican co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck into an angry rant ("Don't you 'honey' me, HONEY!") When host Joy Behar, a friend of Sandra's, then left the stage for comedic effect the segment was cut short."

Even the capitalization and punctuation are identical. Midnightguinea 18:55, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Major Overhaul

Did a major overhaul of the article with a huge amount of additional material. Added picture, added infobox. Upgraded article's rating from Start to B. Midnightguinea 20:37, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Motivation

"she speaks of the mockery of her stereotypically Jewish features, such as her lips and nose" and "Bernhard later spoke of her contentious relationship with co-star Jerry Lewis. In a 2006 interview on The View she claimed he called her "Fish Lips""

and

"I'm the only actress in Hollywood who didn't pay to have these lips."

Strange, Jerry Lewis is Jewish. If her features are stereotypical they should be quite common in her profession given the large number of Jewish actresses in Hollywood. Perhaps her alleged childhood mockery was because she's not very attractive. Still, difficult to build a career out of that I suppose.

LOL, I saw King of comedy last night and wondered if her lips were natural or if the result of botched plastic surgery.

Fish Lips is the perfect description, I wish I'd thought of it myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.15.213.223 (talk) 02:49, 25 February 2013 (UTC)

Wow. You're an ignorant racist. Just FYI. Let's see how we can break down your ignorance. You say she's "not very attractive"; that's your opinion. It's obviously an opinion that differs from the millions of people who have chosen to view her nude layout in Playboy magazine, not to mention the countless commercial modeling jobs she's taken over the past 20 years. You also seem to insinuate that a person of a certain ethnic background could not make a nasty comment about someone of the same ethnicity. To be clear: Jerry Lewis made fun of her lips because he thought they were funny, not because they were stereotypically Jewish. ALTERNATELY/ADDITIONALLY, she suffered a lot of mockery as a child/teen growing up in Arizona because she had very dramatically Jewish features which were very different from the people around her. The two things are mutually exclusive.
I would like to see your data on the "large number of Jewish actresses in Hollywood." Even in Hollywood there is a lot of pressure to NOT put ethnic-looking people in film or on T.V. Ever wonder why Winona Ryder changed her name from Winona HOROWITZ? To put it another way - and stating the sad truth - the viewing public does not embrace people who are not the typical blonde/blue eyed anglo "type"; thus those big-wig Jewish executives in Hollywood are reluctant to cast Jewish people in major roles. Them's the facts, I'm afraid. CouplandForever (talk) 03:29, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Wow - got some anger issues, Kyle? I think that if you HONESTLY believe that it is somehow a hold back to be Jewish IN HOLLYWOOD, that you need to make a SERIOUS reality check. 204.97.218.131 (talk) 19:55, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Wow - got some passive-aggressive issues, 204.97.218.131? I think if you HONESTLY believe that it is somehow a hold back to look/appear/pass as shiksa IN HOLLYWOOD (and, since you chose not to respond to the specific examples--Winona Ryder and for good measure, Sarah Michelle Geller and Jennifer Aniston) you need to make a SERIOUS reality check. 162.83.202.198 (talk) 03:25, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
uh, Jennifer Aniston is greek. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.10.46.8 (talk) 19:45, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

The A-List

Sandra was the regular host of the hit stand-up series The A-List (1992-1993). Why isn't this listed in this article or on IMDB? It's where many people first got to know about her. Famous opening line: "Hi, I'm Sandra Bernhardt and I'm fabulous" (or something like that). Please fix! Thanks. Softlavender (talk) 21:01, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Be Bold! If you wanted to fix it, you should have done so. CouplandForever (talk) 21:34, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Photo Needs to be Cropped

The photo is just fine but the other subjects in the photo have nothing to do with Sandra Bernhard. It should be cropped to just her. I attempted to do so myself only to discover you now have to jump through hoops to do photo contributions on Wikipedia. One more reason I've stopped contributing in any significant way. Anyway, if anyone has the knowledge and energy to do this... they should. CouplandForever (talk) 21:35, 1 September 2008 (UTC) What's with the photo caption "with fags"? A little homphobic I think.

I'm not sure how to report the vandalism here

Reading this article, I'm seeing references to being gang raped by monkeys and 1990 and molesting Roseanne. I'm not sure how to correct or report it, but someone is messing with this article and saying things like "Show us your tits!" I leave it in the hands of Bernhard fans to sort it out.

Yes. And it also appears someone has replaced the real photo of Bernhard with that of some sort of grotesque monkey-like creature. Signed...Shiksa lover. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.68.15.79 (talk) 02:13, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Revert vandalism

I took this part out-"Sandra dated Jay Leno prior to his current marriage and claims he has a large member and liked to tie her up and spank her." It is vandalism.--72.150.117.55 (talk) 20:15, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Just to confirm this was not vandalism and actually an admission made by Sandra on the Howard Stern Show on march 13th 2003. He actually liked to use handcuffs and not just tie her up. I would change it but not sure how to cite a radio show.

Bristol Palin/Dancing with the Stars

I removed a paragraph in the "Controversies" section regarding Bernhard calling Bristol Palin a "hooker" on the Joy Behar Show in 2010. Of the two sources cited, one was a blog post and the other had no mention of Bernhard. While the conservative/Tea Party blogosphere criticized her comments, I could not find via Google search a reliable published source with neutral point of view documenting the event as a mainstream controversy with any ramifications for Bernhard. Anyone familiar with Bernhard's work would not find her comment out of the ordinary, or take it seriously. colby b. (talk) 09:31, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

LGBT removal

  • I removed all the categories (as well as the WikiProject) that refer to Sandra being LGBT because if you read the article, you'll notice that nowhere does it actually say she identifies as such. Erpert Who is this guy? | Wanna talk about it? 00:59, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
