editThe phrase "To an eye not trained in the formal evaluation of art..." is a holdover from the original "Persons with either ignorance of, or a lack of appreciation for, art" which is both non-neutral and insulting to the reader. Re-phrasing an "editorial" comment should not be acceptable.
Use of previous works
editIn many cases, Birk uses well-known motifs from the history of art, but it is not always so. There is an interesting comparison between Birk's "Liberation of Bachdad" (2003) and "Liberation of Minsk" (1944-55) by Belorussian artist Valentin Volkov 1. This source 2 (while still not notable) shows another case of reuse and even refers to the lack of that information on Wikipedia. Wonder if any notable sources have commented on it. Whether this is plagiarism, pastiche, or satire (in case Birk has publicly acknowledged reworking previous works of art), such a practice is worth mentioning in the article. --146.255.183.150 (talk) 13:28, 27 September 2015 (UTC)
