C47 crash: confusion on the date

edit

I came here hoping to clear up a discrepancy on the mountain itself: at the crash site of the C47 along the Fish Creek route to the summit, there are TWO plaques cemented nearly side by side to the rock, one dating the crash to Dec. 1, 1952 and the other to Dec. 1, 1953. The sources in the two footnotes here both say 1952, but the text of the article says 1953. Browsing the Internet, I find references to both dates. Anyone know which it is and what is the source of the confusion? I think I'm going to change the article to match the sources listed, but keep an eye on it. Dean Paul Martin death

edit

Here is a cite regarding the death of Dean Paul Martin on the mountain: [1] (Not to hard to find, I must say. Searching for Frank Sinatra's mother should produce RS as welll.) --S. Rich (talk) 05:34, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

elevation as per GNIS data

edit

U.S. Geological Survey Geographic Names Information System: San Gorgonio Mountain lists elevation at 11,489. I venture this is the more WP:RS (and I can't remember what the sign says at the top -- it's been about 10 years.) --S. Rich (talk) 05:49, 21 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
