Samford Hall Clock/Bell Tower edit

I am glad that information is included about the bell tower, but I had to correct information about the playing of War Eagle. As the writer of the "source" the information was taken from, I feel that a suggested program that is displayed was taken as a current schedule. In fact, daily visitors to Samford Hall, or anywhere near it, would only know that it plays at noon. If I myself am mistaken, then I am sorry. To the orignal writer of the article, if you feel that my "source" does indeed say 5pm, then I will have to change the source.

In light of many articles recently published in local (Auburn/Opelika, AL) newspapers in regards to DST, I encountered many errors about the clock tower and carillon. It seems that the reporters didn't research the subject very well. Due to the knowledge that I have gained while researching this topic, I would like to offer more information from my "source" to the wikipedia page for Samford Hall. Such information is along the lines of the original bell still in use, contol of clock/bell/carillon system, etc. I have been wanting to start an article on this topic, but being new to Wikipedia, and still in school (see user page), I don't have the proper skills or time.

Samford Hall as Tallest Building in Auburn, AL edit

From reading the source listing Samford Hall as the tallest building in Auburn, AL, I believe, by common sense, that Haley Center, if not Jordan-Hare Stadium, is actually taller than Samford Hall. We cannot always hold the information published by the Opelika-Auburn News to be fact when many factual and grammatical errors can be seen daily. I will try to research this further, and I ask others to join me as well.

Current research on this subject shows that Samford Hall has only 4 stories (http://www.lib.auburn.edu/arch/buildings/samford_hall.htm), while Haley Center has ten (http://www.lib.auburn.edu/arch/buildings/haley_center.htm). Furthermore, the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center has a site that also includes Haley Center as the tallest building (http://www.auhcc.com/local_attractions/top_ten_things_to_do.cfm). Another site from Auburn University, this time from the Admissions office also states that Haley Center is the tallest building (http://www.auburn.edu/admissions/campus_visit/visit_faq.html).

If someone would like to dispute these claims before the article is changed, please do so.

No one has disputed the above claims, so I will be removing the statement about Samford Hall being the tallest building in Auburn, AL. If another user can find data supporting the claim that it is indeed the tallest building, then we will revert back. Dennibr 20:05, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Holiday tree naming controversy edit

Is this section old news that can be deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kellyprice (talkcontribs) 19:52, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

It seems peripheral and off-topic to me.--Bhuck (talk) 13:54, 18 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Basketball court in the attic? edit

I can find no credible evidence anywhere that the attic of Samford Hall was ever used as a basketball court, and it is not cited in this article. Other google search results when searching for evidence seem to have been published after this article, hence relying upon what they read here as fact. Dwa0001 02:14, 6 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've removed the claim. --auburnpilot talk 04:35, 6 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
