Inconsistency

But on this page:
- On July 20, 2005, Canada became the fourth country in the world

The Michaels
I've restored the reference to the Michaels on this page, as the first same-sex couple to marry in Ontario after the Court of Appeal decision. I think that it is in fact relevant, since they were two of the long-standing advocates for marriage equality for same-sex couples. The fact that they were the first to marry marked a considerable personal victory for them, as well as a victory for same-sex couples. I think that is relevant to the article overall. - And I've reverted this newer edit because unless they were involved in the court cases that resulted in its establishment (such as Henderson and Leboeuf), then no, simply being first to employ the right does not make them relevant to this article. Somebody has to be first, obviously, and no doubt it was important to them personally but that doesn't mean they warrant mention here. —Joeyconnick (talk) 18:30, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the free online reporter, CANLII, always abbreviates the style of cause to make the cases easy to cite, with the down-side that not all of the parties are listed. Subscription services tend to give the complete styles of cause, showing all the parties. I've added five cases showing Michael Leshner was involved in litigation to advance the rights of same-sex partners from 1992 to the final decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal in 2003. Michael Stark was also a party in the case which led to the legalization of same-sex marriage (three reported decisions with his name), including the final decision of the Ontario Court of Appeal.Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 20:45, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- We don't need a massive number of citations, then. We need the context of why these people are worthy of mention because "we're first!" is clearly not sufficient. You've provided that context here here but not in the article. I've remedied that. —Joeyconnick (talk) 18:09, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
