Wrong Information

This information was added recently: "In 2014 the Samburu National Reserve fell into a steep decline and by March 2017 it was facing closure due to poaching of the wildlife and armed violence against tourists and locals alike. In May 2017 the administrators were faced with the impact of the severe drought which has caused the loss of an estimated 60% of the wildlife population."

This is WRONG -Samburu National Reserve never faced closure. We have poaching in all conservancies and national parks and Samburu is not an extrem. Samburu National Reserve does not have any recent case of violence. Specific areas in Laikipia have below mentioned issues of pastoralists and this is mainly because the conservancies are in private hands and its a complex problem. There was no violence against tourist. But against locals and foreigners owning land in the area of working on this ranches. There is no statistic to base the 60% wildlife loss in Samburu Reserve at all.'Bold text

So-called invasions by pastoralist herdsman bringing up to 15,000 cattle into the reserve have introduced diseases which are catastrophic to the natural wildlife. This, in turn, is promoting armed conflict which then deters the once-thriving tourist industry.

As stated there is nothing like this we have issues in private Laikipia Reserves in certain areas, not in samburu Reserve. There are always illigal herders in the different parks all over the time and country. One can research the local or even international media - some might not be 100% correct but they will show this whole edition is just a lie - motivated by what ever or just an uninformed person.

I also fact checked the dramatic claims of violence and wildlife death and cannot find substantial sources to back this claim. I will be travelling there this weekend. Dave (talk) 19:21, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
