Ah, never mind, I see now, there was a massive amount of blanking of the article. :-/ Mathmo Talk 05:25, 26 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Prohibited holds

edit

The article gives the impression that very few types of submission hold (apart from choke-holds) are excluded by the rules of Sambo. Having read the current international rules for sport Sambo I'm not sure about that. The rules in the English version (probably translated from Russian) are not always clear, but they seem to exclude quite a lot: headlocks and spine-locks of any kind; head and body scissors; finger and toe holds; twisting the foot by the heel (heel hooks and similar holds); knee bars; arm-locks behind the back; some holds on the hands; throwing the opponent using a submission hold; applying a submission hold with a jerk; any submission hold in a standing position. Maybe the rules have been made more restrictive for safety reasons. Overall I don't think the rules allow anything that isn't allowed in Brazilian Jujitsu, while they exclude all choke holds, which are allowed in both BJJ and Judo. If anyone understand the current rules better than I do (maybe using the Russian version) I hope they can clarify the position.81.146.36.5 (talk) 15:02, 7 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Requested move 11 November 2018

edit
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Consensus to not move, therefore, not moved. Still a well known racial term. (closed by non-admin page mover) Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 21:26, 18 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

– Sambo is actually a martial art and combat sport, popular worldwide (at the current 2018 World Sambo Championships more than 500 athletes from 80 countries are participating). "Sambo" is also a character in The Story of Little Black Sambo, after which the racial term and a restaurant was named. It is clear what of these meanings is more prevalent. User:Tomcat7 (talk) 13:44, 11 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Dear wikipedia.

I tried to edit the Sambo Martial arts site couple of times. Specially 2 things. 1st: I cut and copy Rustam J. Sudoczki name from the champions list (from below to the top). But the wikipedia editor, or I dont know who is deleted.

Here is the references about Rustam J. Sudoczki :

Article issues and classification

edit
Article fails the criteria #1 states; The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations. It has reliable sources, and any important or controversial material which is likely to be challenged is cited., and #4, The article is reasonably well-written.
The article has "needing additional references" (July 2014), unsourced statements (September 2022), "external links" and "spam" cleanup (February 2014). Reassess to C-class.
edit
There are ten entries in the "External links". Three seems to be an acceptable number and of course, everyone has their favorite to add for four. The problem is that none is needed for article promotion.
  • ELpoints #3) states: Links in the "External links" section should be kept to a minimum. A lack of external links or a small number of external links is not a reason to add external links.
  • LINKFARM states: There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to the external links section of an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia. On articles about topics with many fansites, for example, including a link to one major fansite may be appropriate.
  • WP:ELMIN: Minimize the number of links. -- Otr500 (talk) 01:07, 11 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • WP:ELCITE ...and access dates are not appropriate in the external links section. Do not use {{cite web}} or other citation templates in the External links section. Citation templates are permitted in the Further reading section. -- Otr500 (talk) 22:39, 10 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
