'Home Secretary' or 'Secretary of State for the Home Department'?

In the infobox it says Javid's position is 'Secretary of state for the Home Department'. On previous home secretary's pages it just says 'Home Secretary', see Amber Rudd and Theresa May. Birth place

Sajid Javid was born in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Source here. Other than an edit made this morning on the wiki page i cannot find a single source saying he's from Littleborough. Cristi Neagu (talk) 20:41, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

Error in Amber Rudd resignation reason

Amber Rudd resignation was because she "inadvertently misled the Home Affairs Select Committee over targets for removal of illegal immigrants" and not "over The Windrush scandal". I understand that Labours position as reported by Diane Abbott on this mornings BBC breakfast time is "over The Windrush scandal" however she was corrected on more than one occasion by the reporter.

The Amber Rudd page on Wikipedia gives the correct version of events.

Did Sajid become "the first person from an ethnic minority background to hold one of the Great Offices of State in the UK"? Boris Johnson is of patrilineal Turkish descent. Hostile environment policy

Re: In June 2018, Javid lifted the cap on immigration for NHS doctors and nurses in an attempt to end the “hostile environment” policy on immigration, but the 'immigration cap' isn't part of the 'hostile environment policy'! The HEP specifically deals with making life unpleasant for those already in the UK illegally and has nothing to do with how/how many/who can enter legally. The text needs to be amended, yes the cap and the HEP are both parts of govt immigration policy, and Javid appears to be taking a more flexible approach to both, but they aren't synonymous. Yes, I've corrected this to "a" vice president. In investment banking it's a rank, junior to director and to managing director - in the same way that if he'd been in the army he might have become a captain, then a major, then a lt-colonel. You don't have to stick verbatim to the source material if it is clearly inaccurate, e.g. if it says somebody became "captain of the British Army at the age of 25".Paulturtle (talk) 22:54, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

"Managing Director" means CEO in the UK. As I understand it Javid was a managing director, i.e. more of a departmental head.

Of course the sentence is technically correct because "a" refers to both "politican" and "managing director", but UK readers familiar with UK business terminology will initially get the wrong idea of Javid's level at DB. --83.218.138.8 (talk) 14:51, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Bank loan of 500 to buy shares

From the BBC article:

At the age of 14 he went to see his father's bank manager and arranged to borrow £500 to invest in shares, becoming a regular reader of the Financial Times.

From the Wikipedia article footnote:

"This seems unlikely as a bank would not lend to a minor. They would be unable to go to court to get repayment. A bank loan for shares is not a necessity for life."

I found this point in the footnotes and moved it here for discussion.

He would not have been able to buy or sell shares in his own name anyway. I know this because I remember a brokerage being closed down specifically for trading with minors, of which I was one.

Remove the post-nominal 'PC' from Infobox. Javid's style of 'Right Honourable' indicates he is a privy counsellor. 2022 Official Portraits

Hello. I have noticed that recently, lead photographs of cabinet ministers have been changed because there seem to be some new official portraits that were supposedly taken in 2022, but this remains uncertain as the circa template (c.) has been added to the captions. Since there is uncertainty regarding the dating of these images, should we revert to the 2020 portraits until we can verify if they were taken in 2022? Articles with this happen include Sajid Javid, Dominic Raab and Michael Gove.
