SAIX and Saix edit

@Uanfala: Please don’t just revert my edit without talking about it first.

Firstly, SAIX and Saix both were redirects to South African Internet Exchange, and there is a hatnote there referring people to Saix (disambiguation). In other words, the exchange is the primary topic. The “Saix” redirect was the lower-case version of the all-caps version, standard when there is an all-caps redirect. I reverted your bold edit partly because I disagree that the exchange is not the primary topic. If you feel it isn’t, then please open a move discussion.

Secondly, your change of target created a WP:MALPLACED disambiguation page. The page with “disambiguation” in the title should always be a redirect to the base title (when there are both pages). Having it the other way around is an error. — Gorthian (talk) 21:02, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Ah, sorry, I didn't get that you saw SAIX as the primary topic of Saix (but even then, the onus to start a discussion should have been on me: my bad again, sorry!). I thought the case was obvious, but now that you've challenged it, a discussion wouldn't hurt: I've started an RM at Talk:Saix (disambiguation): please comment there. And as for the malplaced dabs, I don't worry too much about that: it makes virtually zero difference to the user experience, and it doesn't affect the topic structure of rest of the encyclopedia. Also, it's neatly tracked, and every now and then, one or another editor with advanced permissions would patrol the list of pages, fixing them with considerably less fuss than I would ever be able to. – Uanfala (talk) 22:31, 20 August 2018 (UTC)Reply
