Tied series scores

Why is Ben Ainslie's 46 points total good for a Gold Medal, whereas Jonas Høgh-Christensen's 46 points only earned a Silver Medal?

The best I can find is from the ISAF web site [1], The Racing Rules of Sailing, Appendix A Scoring (pp 44 – 46)

A8 SERIES TIES

A8.1 If there is a series-score tie between two or more boats, each boat’s race scores shall be listed in order of best to worst, and at the first point(s) where there is a difference the tie shall be broken in favour of the boat(s) with the best score(s). No excluded scores shall be used.

Taking the results, in order of best to worst, Ainslie had two wins but Høgh-Christensen had three. Can anyone point out where I have gone wrong, or has a better explanation? If so, I think it needs to go into the article somewhere. Hamish59 (talk) 08:30, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
