Status of Spanish edit

Recently, the status of the Spanish language in the SADR has been described in this page as regional language. That seems to be an attempt at keeping some mention of the language in the infobox, as the persistent hoax of it being official language finds no reliable source. However, Spanish is not a regional language either, for any possible meaning of the expression, and something has to be done. In WP-es, a certain consensus has been reached about Spanish being a promoted language in the SADR, because it is taught in the educational system and perhaps used in some documents that could be called semi-official. I'd like to know proposals to settle this issue. Jotamar (talk) 08:29, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Saharan Spanish exists. How would you propose noting that this is a language that is spoken by this community of the Sahrawi alongside Hassaniya? ―Justin (koavf)TCM 16:04, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I know the page exists. What I propose is to tell the truth: promoted language, traditional second language, taught language, etc. --Jotamar (talk) 10:50, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
After 3 weeks with no further comments, I've decided to be bold and change the infobox entry: traditional second language. --Jotamar (talk) 21:05, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Good work. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 21:53, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Even though it's not mentioned in the constitution, we cannot ignore the fact that some reliable sources describe it as the SADR's second official language.[1][2][3] "Semi-official" would probably be a better description, but unfortunately, I couldn't find any source describing it as such. I have therefore restored the sourced version and added a note to it. M.Bitton (talk) 00:47, 13 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Population of the Sahrawi Republic edit

The population estimate provided is based on the territory of Western Sahara (numbers that I assume are based only on the census and projections provided by the Moroccan government for the territories under their control). Should we change it to show the estimate for SADR-administered territory (namely the refugee camps and the Liberated Territories)?

The 2018 UNHCR estimate estimated 173,600 Sahrawis in the refugee camps. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 17:38, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Since SADR is also known as Western Sahara, it stands to reason to mention the population of WS (as estimated by United Nations Statistics Division) with a note about the population in the camps (similar to how it was done before the change). M.Bitton (talk) 18:48, 7 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
