Safia Shah article edit
This refers to the daughter of the writer and Sufi teacher, Idries Shah.
Although I have an article sandboxed on Safia Shah, I snail mailed her on Monday 10 November 2008 asking whether or not she and her husband Ian Thomas would welcome an article entitled Safia Shah. The article would cover her writing and journalistic work and also their London shop A. Gold.
I have yet to hear back and have agreed with User:Jayen466 that as she is media-shy and may not wish to promote herself publicly, we would not publish unless we have her okay and she is also willing to provide additional detail to ensure that the article would be sufficiently noteable. Infobox image edit
Was going to use the black and white photograph from the back of Afghan Caravan, but fair use was contested, as a replacement could conceivably be obtained.
So, will see if Tahir Shah has an image of Safia and see if the copyright holder of that is willing to fill out a Commons grant form for permission to publish the image at Commons. EricT (talk) 17:40, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Why is Safia Shah's name written in Gujarati in the introduction to the article given that her father was an Indian from UP state and his mother tongue was Urdu not Persian and certainly not Gujarati? Idries Shah claimed to be of Afghan descent but was not Afghan nor was he a Farsi speaker - though he may have learned this due to it being a language of literature in the same way that British have studied French or Latin. He also claimed to be a Hashemi Sayyid and I don't see his name being writtwn in Arabic style. It ma be because Idries's mother was an Indian Parsi who predominently speak Gujarati, and cite it as their mother-tongue adopted over two millenia since their flight from Persia. In that case then the name should also be written in Pahlavi script of Zend Avesta. Moarrikh (talk) 14:07, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
