Name

edit

I am not sure if the official name of the ship is SS Winfield Scott, PS Winfield Scott or simply Winfield Scott. If anyone can provide that info, I'd appreciate it. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 17:34, 9 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

GA Reassessment

edit

This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Winfield Scott (ship)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment. This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force. I believe the article currently meets the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. This decision was a little tricky, as I think the article has some significant deficiencies that need to be addressed:

  • The lead should do a much better job of summarising the ships career, loss and the aftermath.
  • All sections of the article could do with expansion; there could be a lot more on the ship's construction, early career, time on the West Coast, sinking and salvage.
  • The chosen infobox does the article no favours. There is a much better ship infobox avaliable (see USS Princess Matoika (ID-2290)) which allows dimensions and history to be neatly summarised, lightening the burden on the text and making the article more accesible.

The article history has been updated to reflect this review. Regards, Jackyd101 (talk) 08:58, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
