Republic of Ireland reference removed

edit

I removed the reference to Republic of Ireland, as it was inaccurate and unnecessary in the context. The state formally became a republic some years after the events described, but the official name of the state remained unchanged. It is still "Ireland", not "Republic of Ireland", so it is not necessary to make a distinction.Michael of Lucan (talk) 16:45, 10 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not moved. There is a clear absence of consensus on the proposal. bd2412 T 21:20, 12 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

SS Irish Pine (1919)West Hematite – The ship spent most of her career under the name West Hematite, under US flag. She was built in the US, under well-known US shipbuilding program in 1918-1920. The ship was barely a year under Irish flag. The guidelines for ship-naming are quite vague - best known name. Known to who? I've never heard of SS Irish Pine, but definitely know about "West" ships built in the US. The length of service in cases like that should outweigh any torpedo attacks, and the ship should be listed under her original name. Crook1 (talk) 18:26, 5 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
