Masts, sails and electric lights: From 1889 on, when Teutonic and the first Majestic entered service, White Star's ships' masts were no longer rigged to carry sail; the advent of twin screws was thought to do away with the need to carry sails. Although she in fact had four masts, Ionic was not equipped with, and could not uses, sails. Electric lights had also been standard on White Star ships for even longer; ships as early as Coptic (1881) were lighted by electricity.Mab819c (talk) 00:25, 20 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Date of scrapping

edit

The infobox says that the ship was scrapped in 1937, but the history section gives the year as 1936. Which is correct? Eastmain (talkcontribs) 07:30, 3 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
