The fricative and affricatives
editI see no mention of one particular aspect of the S. L. Wong system, that is, the differentiation of the fricative and affricative initials into [s, ts, dz] and [s2, ts2, dz2] respectively to reflect the difference in Putonghua between x, q and j and s, c and z, even though Wong expressly acknowledged that [s2, ts2, dz2] are "duplicates of [s, ts, dz] respectively" and are "pronounced exactly the same" in standard Cantonese (see: S. L. Wong (1938). A Chinese Syllabury Pronounced According to the Dialect of Canton. ISBN 962 231 201 2). [s2, ts2, dz2], though rarely if ever used nowadays in place of [s, ts, dz], were used by Wong in the 1938 Syllabury. Perhaps this ought to be mentioned in the article as well? --Pkchan 16:44, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- You're right. I think it's better to include this in the article. -- Syaoranli 17:42, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Included. Kindly review! --Pkchan 18:19, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
