Brahmin mothers

edit

The article says that suta were were the sons of Kshatriyas born to Brahmana women. However, both Karna (Kshatriya mother) and Vidura (probably Vaisya or Sudra mother) are considered Suta. Mixed Kshatriya parentage (or even part royal parentage) may be a better explanation. Imc 11:48, 17 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

you say "The article says that suta were were the sons of Kshatriyas born to Brahmana women". you are disputing a fact with lies. you should give a direct reference stating that they are not.
क्षत्रियाद् विप्रकन्यायां सूतो भवति जातितः ।
वैश्यान् मागधवैदेहौ राजविप्राङ्गनासुतौ ॥ ११ ॥ manusmriti.
and karna was not suta. He was called suta because everyone assume him to be son of suta, and vidura was not suta. he holds a respect more than suta because of two factors 1) he was norn out of "vilom" marriage,or rather a union, (higher varna father and lower varna mother), as opposed to sutas who are born of "pratilom" marriage ( lower varna father and higher varna mother) 2) being born out of niyoga ( child conceived from other than husband with permission of elders) which has scriptural sanction.
