"Natural" Shortstop?

edit

I'm not sure that the bit of trivia about Theriot being refered to as a 2B, but is a "natural" SS is scholorly or alltogether true. As far as I know, he's called a shortstop now, because that's the position he starts at. As his career continues, he might be more aptly called a utility infielder. Secondly, what makes someone a "natural"? Granted, he's got a pretty good glove, but he flashes it equally well at 3B or 2B. I'd like to see that bit gone from the article - unless someone wants to defend what I view as an irrelevant, vague statement. Zukkie44 21:28, 10 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Worst player on the Cubs

edit

Some dope said Theriot is probably the worst player on the cubs and should be a reserve. Whether or not this is true is very debatable, however this is an encyclopedic article and I have deleted the statement.Cubs07ftw 19:34, 25 October 2007 (UTC) no offense but the worst players on the cubs are the ones who throw the ball into the stands with only two outs and let a run score. Not using any names but you can probably figure it out (Milton Bradley) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.122.174.79 (talk) 04:01, 18 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well, Milton Bradley is no longer a Cub, and Theriot is not even close to being the worst. Saros136 (talk) 16:09, 20 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well Theriot is no longer a cub either. And he wasn't the worst, but he certainly was the most over rated. And the only ones that liked him were women. I give you one guess as to why. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.213.176.18 (talk) 03:25, 8 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

No mention of TOOTBLAN?

edit

There was a smart-assed new statistic coined in 2008 just to make fun of Theriot, called TOOTBLAN - "Thrown Out On the Basepaths Like a Nincompoop." It's grown steadily in stature since, and is basically a 'thing' among baseball insiders and fans, all based on this one guy. Should probably get a mention on the page somewhere. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.84.68.161 (talk) 12:08, 26 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yeah! Here it is discussed on the mlb.com website: https://www.mlb.com/glossary/idioms/tootblan I think a mention should be added. Cougroyalty (talk) 00:25, 13 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
