Age

Is "Born 17 March 1960 (1960-03-17) (age 50)" in the info box the right format? Surely nobody is born aged 50. It looks odd. Fainites ^barleyscribs 21:22, 15 September 2010 (UTC)

That's the format the {Template:Birth date and age} yields when added to the BLP infoboxes. I agree, it "scans" oddly to the eye! Underneath the DOB & centered would certainly look better. The template is protected, so the output can't be altered. I'll do a Sandbox test of separate Birthdate and Age templates inside the BLP box, and see if it can be kluged to look better.

I poked around the Sandbox after reading-up on the various Infobox person parameters available, and found a suitable solution. At first, I tested to see if "Age =" could be inserted after a pipe-delimiter ("|") with the proper Age template included, but it was a no-go. Noticing the several module params further down the list, I achieved the following success:

Ruth Langsford
(Age 64)

But, when other params are added, the module params drop to the bottom of the box:

Ruth Langsford
Occupation	Broadcaster
Years active	1986-present
(Age 64)

So, I tried combining the {Birthdate} & {Age} templates on the same "birthdate" param line, but with an HTML page line break ("<br>") in between, and... it worked!

Occupation	Broadcaster
Years active	1986-present

I'll add this edit to the article's infobox, and cross-post this workaround to the Template's discussion page. Perhaps an interested party might create a wikiBot, since the reformat won't interfere with hCard parsing tools & spiders.

Surname

Just in case any future eager-beaver thinks they want to "scoop" everyone, please think twice before assuming that a modern woman (much less, a noted TV personality with decades of name recognition) will automatically change her last name after the marriage ceremony.

One now-banned editor jumped through a lot of hoops starting two days after the marriage was announced to "update" Ms. Langsford's article & infobox, but without any citable sources. Later on, the same editor tried a botched-job of a cut & paste page move to "Ruth Holmes" as an article title. Again without any substantiation of fact.

A well-meaning admin corrected the "cut & paste" into a proper move & redirect the same day in September, but unaware of the factual errors, the "Ruth Holmes" article stayed mis-titled in Wiki Mainspace, until kindly admin AnemoneProjectors recently moved & edited the article back to "Ruth Langsford".

ITV's website (her employer), David Hull & Tony Brown (her agents & professional bio website hosts), and Ruth's personal website & Facebook pages all confirm her last name.

In short: She's Ruth Langsford, legally & professionally. Period.

Holmes was winning Play Your Cards Right in the first ever series, in Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow, and she was also an anchor on ITV's lunchtime chat show Loose Women and presents Ruth Holmes's Fashion Edit on QVC. She took part in the fifteenth series of Strictly Come Dancing, where she came in ninth. She is currently the longest serving female presenter of This Morning. Ruth is also known for her exclusive fashion collection for Shopping Channel QVC. After being approached to curate a collection, Holmes signed a multi-million pound endorsement deal that spawned 19 sellout collections; 18 of which debuted at London Fashion Week Women’s Collection.
