NOt sure if I am doing this correctly, but I think an addition to the page on Ruth Brinker is needed.
Trinity Episcopal Church under the leadership of Robert Cromey opened the undercroft at the church to homeless during the winter. A minimal feeding program provided coffee and pastries/breads donated by local bakeries. Ruth stated what became open hand at Trinity which was very open to gays and lesbians (the reason I used to go there). Ruth was a very determined person and perhaps would have been able to do what she did, but without Robert's getting behind the program (as well as opening up for the homeless when the city of SF did little) I don't know if it would have happened, certainly not as soon as it did.
I don't have any kind of source on this, other than personal experience, I was there.
