Encyclopaedia of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh edit

It has been discovered that this book:

  • Gupta, Om. Encyclopaedia of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Gyan Publishing House, 2006. ISBN 8182053897, 9788182053892.

Contains significant amounts of material plagiarized from Wikipedia articles. (Some other books from the same publisher also have this problem). There is no practical way of determining which material came from Wikipedia, and which came from other sources. Further, widespread plagiarism is an indication of poor scholarship. For those reasons, and according to Wikipedia policy, WP:CIRCULAR, I will deleting all citations to the book. However I will not delete the material that cites it, as there's no indication that the material is inaccurate. For more background, see WP:RSN#Circular references: Gyan Publishing and ISHA Books, or the archive after it goes there.   Will Beback  talk  22:24, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

You are right ... that "encyclopedia" is nothing but a wikipedia mirror. The publisher has made it a business to collect pages from wikipedia and turn them into a book. --Ragib (talk) 22:31, 18 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page edit

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

Triggered by \baimraj\.com\b on the global blacklist

Devdas vandalism (edit conflict) edit

I went through the article about the 1982 film that the singer can be heard in the 1982 Devdas film since her name is mentioned in this article, not the article about the 2013 one. As her name is not mentioned in that article, she didn’t sing in that 2013 film. —47.156.8.159 (talk)

This dispute is unnecessary. —47.156.8.159 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:25, 21 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

IMDb is not a reliable source. edit

How is IMDb not a reliable source? --47.156.8.159 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:09, 23 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

There really wasn't much material at the source article for a merge to this one; the main difference was in the formatting. Personally, I think the list of awards that is already in this article is tidier than the multiple tables at the other one. If anyone strongly disagrees and wants to bring the tables over, the pre-redirected article is here. [1] Joyous! | Talk 00:17, 8 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
